An Alarm Detector gives out signals when it detects things or sounds that it is projected to detect. For example, a smoke alarm detector starts giving signals when it detects excessive smoke and a motion alarm detector when it detects any type of motion. The main part of an alarm detector is the sensor and the parts that send out the alarm. The alarm can be a piercing sound, loud horning, a bright light or any other tactics to get the attention of the occupants. Some wireless alarm detectors like motion alarm detectors send signals to very distant security centers through networks without any sound when they a detect suspicious motion.

Many important places are equipped with motion alarm detectors. When they are on, they send out signals whenever some motion interrupt their sensors. For example, many motion alarm detectors consists of lights with a lens installed at main entrances and connected to them are photo beam detectors. Photo beam detectors are installed where they can notice the lights, lenses or low power lasers. When someone crosses the entrance, the light gets on and photo beam detects it. When it senses the lights, an alarm is sent out to the security system in or out.

Another modern alarm detector is the ultrasonic motion alarm detector that emits high frequency waves. They are highly effective to sense even the slightest movements and used to protect important places or areas from alien entry. They emit inaudible frequencies when they sense any movements and activates an alarm system or any other security system connected with them. Other important alarm systems are microwave movement alarms, glass break alarm systems, and magnetic switches. In which ever form, an alarm detector is a highly essential piece of equipment to secure homes, and every other important place from burglars as well as smoke, fires, pests, chemicals and other destructive elements.
